On Tuesday, October 27, Minneapolis Junior-Senior High School’s Vocal Program welcomed the community to its fall vocal concert, “The Sounds of Fall.” The evening showcased the musical talents of students across multiple grade levels, featuring seasonal selections, expressive performances, and energetic contemporary music.
The junior high choir performed a variety of pieces that captured the spirit and mystery of autumn. Selections included Ghost of John by Christi Cary Miller, The Owl, the Wind, and the Moon and A Dark and Stormy Night by Mark Burrows, and Full Moon Rising by Teresa Jennings. These songs offered students opportunities to explore different musical styles and express themselves through choral singing.
The high school Concert Choir continued the evening with Blow, Winds of Fall by Greg Gilpin, For the Beauty of the Earth by John Rutter, and Fire Dance by Daniel Brinsmead. The selections highlighted the choir’s musical development, vocal expression, and ability to perform a diverse repertoire.
The concert concluded with performances by New Image (vocal select group), which energized the audience with Don't Stop Me Now by Mark Brymer, featuring soloist Lorelei Wilson; You Haven't Seen the Last of Me, arranged by Greg Gilpin, featuring soloist Alanna Wilson; and Born This Way, arranged by Allan Billingsley.
“The Sounds of Fall” celebrated student achievement, musical growth, and the important role of the performing arts in North Ottawa County Public Schools. A special thank you to Vocal Director Mrs. Hocking and Accompanist Mrs. Carver for all your extra work in helping our students produce an exemplary performance.
