The Kansas Teacher of the Year Region 1 Ceremony was held on April 18, 2026, at the Tony’s Pizza Events Center in Salina, KS, recognizing outstanding educators from across north central and western Kansas. Among those honored was USD 239 North Ottawa County Public Schools, Mrs. Tarin Hauck, who was named one of three elementary semifinalists from a large field of nominees representing the First Congressional District of Kansas.

Mrs. Hauck, a Title I Reading Interventionist at Minneapolis Grade School, serves students in kindergarten through sixth grade. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Kansas State University and a Master of Science in Education with a Reading Specialist emphasis from Fort Hays State University.

Throughout her career, Mrs. Hauck has demonstrated exceptional dedication to student growth, evidence-based instruction, and collaboration. Her leadership includes serving as an MTSS coordinator, facilitating professional development, leading district ELA initiatives, and supporting educators as a LETRS facilitator.

Beyond the classroom, she strengthens school-community connections through family engagement events, summer tutoring, and service on the local library board.
