Service Learning Day

On Thursday, April 16, Minneapolis Junior Senior High School Students traded classrooms for community service during a day of spring spruce-up learning, gaining valuable hands-on experience while helping community members and their own school. Research shows students develop stronger problem-solving, teamwork, and practical life skills when engaged in service learning that benefits others. Service learning also brings to life the North Ottawa County Public School's core values—being Motivated, Honorable, and Safe—through meaningful, real-world action.

Students spent Thursday morning cleaning out garages for residents, painting address numbers on curbs, refreshing rails at a local auto repair shop, and assisting the school district by clearing out items in the elementary school basement and completing landscaping and painting projects at MJSHS. Their hard work is one of many reasons why we are blessed to live in a premier community that inspires all to learn, work, and thrive!

Thank you to the students, staff, and community members who made the day a success and continue to support this positive learning experience. #LionPride!
