The Annual Gingerbread Christmas Festival warmed hearts on Saturday evening, November 29, in downtown Minneapolis, as the MJSHS New Image filled the frosty air with classic Christmas carols. Their sponsor, Mrs. Hocking, worked closely with community event organizers to provide vocal students with an opportunity to perform following the Parade of Lights and the annual lighting of the community Christmas Tree. Despite chilly winds, the evening unfolded with the glow of holiday lights, bundled families, warm smiles, and steaming cups of cocoa. The young singers delivered beautiful renditions of "Away in a Manger," "Silent Night," and "We Three Kings," adding charm to a day already filled with festive cheer.

Earlier events included Kids Crafts with Farm Bureau, Santa at The Farm, a performance from the Dancing Bird Studio at the Blue Store, a Soup Supper at the VFW, and a Live Nativity complete with camels.
Such celebrations like this are rare in other corners of the nation, and are what make Minneapolis, KS, a premier community. The event requires substantial organization, and our community is fortunate to have the dedication of Kate Dixon and Katrina Nichols for their planning and hard work in making this year’s Gingerbread Festival a success.
