Career Day

Minneapolis High School students traveled to Salina Regional Health Center to participate in Health Career Awareness Day, an engaging, hands-on experience that supports each student's Individual Plan of Study (IPS). All students in the district are required to develop an IPS to explore future careers, and this event gave those interested in health sciences a valuable look into the health career field.

Students rotated through six sessions throughout the day, hearing directly from professionals such as nurses, nurse practitioners, X-Ray, CT, MRI technicians, paramedics, and pediatricians. Each session focused on education requirements, what a typical day looks like as a student and a working professional, and how careers in health care can positively impact lives.

The event also allowed the instructor, Mrs. Giles, the opportunity to collaborate with other health career educators and learn about HOSA—Health Occupation Students of America—a potential Career Technical Student Organization (CTSO) coming to MJSHS during the 26-27 school year. HOSA provides unique leadership development to students and actively promotes career opportunities in the health industry to enhance the delivery of quality health care to all people. #Motivated
