MINNEAPOLIS, KS — On Thursday, September 25, USD 239’s Minneapolis Junior/Senior High School welcomed student leaders from across the region for a student council workshop aimed at empowering the next generation of changemakers.
Guest speaker Kate Garnes, author of Gladiator: Inspiring the Fighter Within, delivered a powerful keynote emphasizing personal resilience and the importance of showing up for others, even when life gets tough.
Throughout the day, students collaborated on strategies to improve their leadership in schools. Sponsors also engaged in breakout sessions, sharing best practices and strengthening professional ties.
MJSHS sponsor Heather Lott praised her students: “My favorite part about committing to hosting or planning an event like this is watching our student leaders step up and take charge. This event would not have happened without them!”
The event highlights an example of North Ottawa County Public Schools' vision to inspire all to learn, work, and thrive through motivation, honor, and safety.
