Heavy rains across the region have led to significant flooding, causing numerous creeks and rivers to crest and overflow onto county roads. Ottawa County Road Department reported that several low-lying areas are submerged, making travel hazardous. Particularly affected is Salt Creek, which has risen rapidly and is now covering Ada Road approximately 8 miles west of Minneapolis. Authorities urge drivers to avoid flooded routes and to never drive through high water. Road crews are monitoring conditions and will close roads as necessary. Residents are advised to stay alert for updates.
Stoney Runnion, USD 239 Transportation Director, communicated with school bus drivers mid-afternoon to reroute transportation to avoid this area. USD 239 Superintendent Curtis Stevens noted, "Shortly before school was dismissed on Tuesday, MJSHS Administration made an announcement reminding students to use extra caution as they drive home."
