Friday night lights returned in full force as Minneapolis hosted Southeast Saline for its first football game of the season. With beautiful fall weather, it was a perfect evening for high school football. The event was more than just a football game; it was a true community celebration made possible by many dedicated volunteers.
Lion Pride was everywhere, from the Lionbackers preparing a delicious "Tailgreat" dinner to the enthusiastic students in the stands. Under Dennis Brooks's direction, the marching band energized the crowd, the Lionettes Dance Team had an excellent performance, and the MJSHS Cheerleaders proudly led the energized student section throughout the game.
South-East Saline, known for their powerhouse program, certainly proved to be tough competition, especially for the season's first game. But in hearing from numerous community members, so many were taken aback at how our Lions Football Team exhibited growth, grit, and a new level of unity right out of the gate. Although the 21 points may not have been enough to defeat our opponent, there was something much different about our players on Friday night--leaving the crowd in the stands to believe they are just getting started.
A special thank you goes to our boosters, parents, event workers, and community members who supported all of our students on Friday evening! #LionPride
