Ice Cream In A Bag 1

As the school year came to an end, Mrs. Rensink’s 7th and 8th Grade Science classes at Minneapolis Junior High enjoyed a hands-on lab called “Ice Cream in a Bag.” Students explored chemistry concepts while creating their own tasty treats. The lab was made possible thanks to a generous donation of supplies from Clara Mull with Farm Bureau, showcasing how community partnerships can greatly enhance student learning.

This fun and flavorful experiment allowed students to observe changes in states of matter, freezing point depression, and the role of salt in the ice-cream-making process. It was a perfect blend of how science can be applied to the culinary arts.

Mrs. Rensink’s lab is a “sweet” example of real-world science in action.
