You likely heard loud sirens blaring across Minneapolis on Friday afternoon. Local law enforcement, EMS, and the Fire Department teamed up this week to conduct a powerful mock crash simulation for the Minneapolis Junior-Senior High Students. The staged accident featured a student actor, emergency response vehicles-- including a medical helicopter-- and realistic scenarios designed to highlight the devastating consequences of distracted and impaired driving.
As the event unfolded, first responders rushed to the accident scene located just south of the MJSHS student parking lot, students witnessed the coordinated efforts involved in saving lives during real emergencies.
According to MJSHS Principal Terry Moeckel, “This simulation gives our local emergency officials an opportunity to reinforce their skills and prepare for real-life situations-- while also raising our students’ awareness of safe driving.”
Organizers hope the experience inspires future interest in first-responder careers while reinforcing the importance of making safe choices behind the wheel.
