Division B Science Olympiad Team 2019

Congratulations to the 7th-9th Grade Division B Science Olympiad Team for such a good showing at the Regional Tournament at Hays University on February 13. The Science Olympiad competition provides a great opportunity for students to pursue areas of science that interest them and look at a wide variety of careers in different fields of science. Students compete in events in the areas of earth, space, physical, life, and forensics science including a variety of health related events that included specific science area content tests, building structures, forensics events, and events using lab procedures.  

 All nine of the students participating medaled in two or more events. Placing 1st and qualifying for the state meet in April at Wichita State University were Koyer Hauck, Conner Peck, MckInley Flower, Hayden Lott, and Halli Hodges. Receiving 2nd place medals in one event were Hayden Lott, Chasyn Vogan, Conner Peck, Clare McKain, Shelby Mullen,and in two events Shaan Bawa. 3rd place medals were earned in one event by Koyer Hauck, Conner Peck, Hallie Hodges, McKinley Flower, Shelby Mullen, Clare McKain, and in two events Chasyn Vogan. The team also placed 4th in three events, 5th in 2 events, and 6th in one event. 

 "The team's hard work and dedication to helping each other prepare for competition paid off. I'm very proud of their accomplishments and the positive team spirit they demonstrated," said Coach Linda Willoughby. Those placing first in their events will travel to Wichita State University in April for state competition. Because of their overall performance the team may also qualify to compete at state. Final team standings and invitations to state as a team will be announced before spring break.
