Nutrition and Wellness Class to Sponsor 5K Run/2 Mile Walk
Money Raised to Assist Local Family
October 15, 2012
MHS Nutrition and Wellness class will be hosting our first annual "Run for the Cause" on Saturday, March 23, 2013. The event will begin at 8:30 a.m. at the high school. Participants can choose the 5K run or the 2 mile walk.
This event is a service learning project that will be held each year to raise money for people with severe medical conditions or research. Any person or business interested in helping sponsor the event can contact Brandi McClure at 785-392-2113. Registration forms will be available soon!
The funds raised for this year's "Run for the Cause" will go to a local family to help defray some of the medical costs associated with their son, Connor's, illness. Connor was diagnosed with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome. Ehlers-Danlos syndrome is a group of inherited disorders that affect your connective tissues - primarily your skin, joints and blood vessel walls. Connective tissue is a complex mixture of proteins and other substances that provides strength and elasticity to the underlying structure.
