The Minneapolis junior high and high school choirs held their winter concert in the high school auditorium on December 21, 2009.
The concert began with the 7th graders who sang four songs. The songs included in their portion of the concert were: "Bring Them Home," "Fum, Fum, Fum," "Something Told the Wild Geese," and "African Noel."
The 7th graders were followed by the 8th graders who sang a variety of songs including "Et In Terra Pax," "Nutcracker Jingles" "Winter Beautiful" and "Jubilant Gloria."
Then, the 7th and 8th graders performed together singing, "Children, Go Tell It!"
The high school portion of the concert began with the Concert Choir. They sang the following: "In the Bleak Midwinter," "Gaudeamus Hodie," "O Morning Star, How Fair and Bright!" and "Into the Night."
"We are doing really great. The songs are coming along stupendously, but if the second row tenors would stop talking like high school girls, it would be awesome!" said Mariah Rietbrock when asked how the preparation for the concert was going.
Finishing up the singing portion of the night was New Image. They sang and danced to a total of four songs. The first song was "Don’t Get Around Much Anymore." Next was, "The Dinner Bell Carol," "Jingle Bells," and to conclude their part of the concert, they sang "North Pole Rock and Roll."
For the band portion of the Winter Concert, Mr. Ball directed two different groups. Starting the band portion of the concert was the Jazz Ensemble group. They played "Blue Train," "Kansas City," and "Here Comes Big 'Un."
Following the Jazz Ensemble, came the Concert Band. They played a total of five songs including "A Yuletide Memory," "The Klaxon," "Rhythm of the Winds," "An American Christmas," and "Music for a Darkened Theatre."
