Lions Boys Basketball Anticipates New Season

Lions Possess Experience and High Hopes for 2009-2010

The 2009-2010 Minneapolis boys basketball team will feature something that the program has been unable to enjoy for a few years, a senior class. The Lions are returning every one of their players from last year’s 12-12 squad that was knocked out in the second round of the Sub-State tournament.

Coach Eric Shupe, coming into his fourth year as head coach, has high hopes for the season and further enforces the presence of upperclassmen, “We have a lot of returning experience and veteran players, and we’re looking forward to a great year.”

After three years of playing multitudes of underclassmen, this will likely be the first year since 2005 that the Lions play more than one senior throughout the entire year.

Along with the plethora of experience on the team, they also feature plenty of firepower with two returning All-League players, Logan Wedel and Grayson George, who are both more than reputable for their outside shots. Along with them, the Lions possess the ever-elusive Casy Arganbright at point guard and Dylan “Tough Love” Crosson and Keegan McCullick bringing some size into the starting line-up.

Depth will also be something there is no shortage of on the team with Andrew Yoxall, Charlie Lynn, Tyrel Owens, John “J-Mike” Darrow, Kyler Macy, Garrett Daugherty, and Jake Eckert all looking to log some minutes this season along with a few other players.

Undoubtedly, expectations are high for the Lions this season. Senior Logan Wedel sums up the players’ outlook for the season by saying something similar to his coach, “We have a lot of experienced players returning and we’re really looking forward to making a good run this year. It’ll be a lot of fun.”
