Concert and Show Choir Excel in First Performance

Choirs Showed their Stuff at Fall Concert

By Alyssa Smith

November 19, 2009

MHS Concert Choir and New Image performed in front of a full audience on Thursday, October 22, in the MJSHS auditorium.

The Concert Choir sang a total of four songs that included much variety.  The songs they sang were “Grandfather’s Clock,” “Some Folks,” “There is a Season,” and “Startin’ to Rain.”

When asked her opinion about the performance, Kaitlyn Cassel replied, “Oh, it went awesome.  People sing…good!”

Following the Concert Choir came New Image.  They sang three choreographed songs including “Sit Down You’re Rockin’ the Boat,” from Guys and Dolls; “Superstar,” a 70’s tune from the Carpenters, and to finish strong they sang, “Great Balls of Fire.”

Ellie Labes says, “New Image is going great.  We have a lot of wonderful voices this year, and although we have a really young group, most of us being sophomores and freshman, we are having a really good year so far!  We sound great, and we’re doing a lot more than the previous years.”
