Lights, Camera, Play!

MHS to perform the musical Guys and Dolls

On Friday the 13th and Saturday the 14th of November, the Minneapolis High School hosted the musical Guys and Dolls based on the book by Damon Runyon.  The cast and crew had a special matinee for the grade school on Wednesday the 11th.  The actual premier for the public was on Friday and Saturday at 7 pm at the MJSHS Auditorium.

Cast members included Ellie Labes, Hunter Clark, Kendall Perry, Caleb Kindall, Quinton Church, Cameron Church, Kyle Egger, Charlie Lynn, Emily Rankin, Mackenzie Mortimer, Christian Orzano, Logan Wedel, Jake Eckert, Grayson George, Meredith Clark, Kylen Laws, Macy Root, Ariel Hoppe, Eileen Price, Lydia Swisher, Addison Roth, Colin Briggs, Sean Forte, Tyrel Owens, Garrett Lott, Spencer Roy, Jacy Crosson, Jaidyn McHenry, Emma Giles, Jessi Walker, Nancy Radabaugh, Sarah Sharp, and Gabby Blochlinger.

Behind the scenes crew members were Zach Allison, Preston Williamson, Gabby Blochliger, Sarah Sharp, Danny Scharplaz, Josh Mullen, Cody Hamm, Ty Hamm, Zac Rathbun, Kaitlyn Cassel, Mary Heikes, Connor Flegler, Danny Scharplaz, Vyctorya Allison, Kaylee Claussen, Michaela Diercks, Meghan Heikes, Dieja Martin, Alyssa Smith, Lindsey Abell, Katie Paige, Kyndall Radke, Meredith Clark, Kyle Egger, Caleb Kindall, Christian Orzano, Tyrel Owens, Kendall Perry, Emily Rankin, Spencer Roy, Logan Wedel, and Morgan Halderson, Tommy Austin, Vyctorya Allison, and Veronica Campbell.

Director Sara Hocking, Assistant Director Jan Clark, and Technical Director Shell Mesecher are proud of all members.  Mrs. Clark claims, “Cast members have been adjusting sports and work schedules to put on this play and crew members have been putting in late nights.  We have over 60 students involved and they’re all putting forth their best efforts.  It’s a great musical.”

When asked, “What is your favorite part of the play?” Colin Briggs responds, “Telling your mom jokes with Keegan (McCullick) and Grayson (George) back stage.”

Ellie Labes says, “I like being part of a major role.  Challenging myself.  In the past years I’ve had minor roles, compared to portraying Sarah in this year’s musical.”

Both the cast and crew have been working endlessly to live up to “practice makes perfect.”
