MHS journalism students attended workshops at the regional conference held in Manhattan on September 22. The students got a head start on new techniques and ideas for the upcoming year.
Every year, journalism students have the opportunity to attend K-State to visit workshops and learn more about tools to use and gather new ideas for their yearbook. It is a great way to learn techniques from cutline writing to capturing the perfect picture.
“It was a really good opportunity to learn more about the correct way to do things,” said Shea Shoemaker.
Students will attend K-State again in February to compete at Regionals.
“I can’t wait to go to K-State for Regionals and to get some Cold Stone,” said Morgan Halderson, referring to the ice cream shop the students usually dine at after competing. They will send in layouts and photographs for the contest and compete in different types of writing at K-State.
