End of Year Reminders from School Nurse

By Tammy Schmidt

May 06, 2008

The end of the school year is upon us and I need the parents' help. Parents need to pick up any meds left at school for their child on or before the last day of school.  Any medication not picked up by the parent/guardian by May 23 will be properly discarded.  No medication can be held over to the next school year and no medication will be sent home with a student.

If your child is enrolled in summer school, you may leave medications until the last day of summer school, June 13.  In preparation for next school year, please remember to get an order from your doctor for the school to administer any prescription medications you want us to give.

Also, if your child has any food allergies and needs meal substitutions, please request a form from me and have your doctor fill this out.  We must have this on file to provide adequately for your child’s nutrition.  This form must be filled out each year by your doctor.

In closing, I have seen many students the last two weeks for first aid issues due to injuries related to tripping in flip flops or slipping on play equipment because of flip flops.  Please send your child to school in shoes appropriate for outdoor play.  It will keep your child safer.

It is always a privilege to serve you and your children.

Have a great summer!
