Simmons Elected District FFA Officer

The North Central District FFA Banquet was held at Clay Center Community High School on April 7, and hosted by the District FFA Officers.  Alyson McCall served this year as Vice President and Analena Simmons served as Secretary.  Members representing the Minneapolis Chapter were Alyson McCall, Analena Simmons, Jacob Klein, Jared Schmidt, Tyler Hohner and Dylan Crosson.  Also attending were Alice McCall, Randy Gruber, Addy McCall , Steve, Daryl and Alice Simmons, Jay Macy, David Crosson, Janna Crosson, Drew Obermeyer, Student Intern, Tammy Schmidt and Jerry Schmidt, Advisor.

 

          Jacob Klein and Tyler Hohner represented the chapter by serving on a panel of voting delegates, which selected next year’s district officers.  The Minneapolis Chapter received the National Chapter Award.  The National Chapter Award is based on the activities completed throughout the year in the areas of student, chapter, and community.

          The first place teams and first place individual winners at district career development events (CDE’s) were also recognized.   The team of Jared Schmidt, Sydney Roth and Alyson McCall were recognized as high team in the Job Interview CDE, with Alyson being high individual.  The Poultry team of Dylan Crosson, Garrett Folger and Steve Porter were recognized for placing first.  Johnathan Reid was recognized for placing first in the EntomologyCDE.  The Entomology team of Jared Schmidt, Ben Perry and Johnathan Reid were recognized for placing first.  Tyler Davis was recognized for being high individual in the Greenhand Ag Mechanics CDE.  Analena Simmons was recognized for placing first in the Dairy Foods and Livestock CDE’s. 

            Along with the teams being recognized for winning within the North Central District, Minneapolis had one member win two district proficiency awards.  Alyson McCall won in the area of Equine Science Entrepreneurship and Ag Service Placement.  She received a plaque and a $50 saving bond for each proficiency area.  Cory Kiser was recognized for receiving the American FFA Degree at the National FFA Convention last fall in Indianapolis, Indiana.  Analena Simmons was recognized to receive the State FFA Degree, which is based on completing a minimum of two years of record books and a ten-page application.  She will be on stage in Manhattan in May at the State FFA Convention to receive this honor.

            At the end of the banquet, the new district officers were announced and installed, with Analena Simmons being elected to the office of District Secretary.
