All Minneapolis 7th grade essays were sent to the state where they will be judged on creativity, clarity, sincerity of thought, and grammatical errors. The regional winner will be revealed in January, 2008.
Meredith's Essay . . .
If I Were Mayor… I Would
If I were Mayor, I would… Well I would change a lot of things! Minneapolis is a great town to live in and I believe the people of Minneapolis deserve some improvements! As campaigning for mayor, I would focus on two main points, keeping Minneapolis clean and keeping it safe.
Minneapolis is a beautiful town! Unfortunately, Minneapolis is not always the safest, or the cleanest. First, let us focus on keeping it clean. Minneapolis has done a lot to keep our water supply clean, but now I think we have another issue facing us, litter. My solution for this issue, a program called All Clean. In the program All Clean, there is an organized committee that will ask support of townspeople to have monthly hour long cleaning sessions. I hope this helps improve some of the litterbugs of Minneapolis change their lifestyle. We also need to keep Minneapolis safe by repairing the brick roads near the park. I realize these roads have historical significance, so instead of keeping them all around, I suggest that we could keep the first few feet of the road and install a sign with a picture of the roads and why they are important to Minneapolis. Minneapolis townspeople have resolved many issues in Minneapolis before, and I am sure they can do it again.
As mayor life goes through stages, campaigning, and showing your ideas. I hope you enjoy Minneapolis and want to keep it clean and safe as much as I do.
