Ag Students Place First in District Entomology Contest

The Minneapolis High School Ag students placed first in the North Central District Entomology career development event held October 11, at Cloud County Community College.  Nine schools participated in the event. 

Bringing home medals were Johnathan Reid, tied for 1st; Ben Perry 2nd; Jared Schmidt 3rd; Morgan Halderson tied with Kyle Bretton for 6th; and Austin Crosson finished in 10th place out of 51 contestants.  Also participating were Jessica Smith, Parker Roth, Katie Nichols, Garett Folger, Jada Ballou, and Kyle Teske.

Of the nine schools, Minneapolis scored 387 points for first.  Linn came in 2nd with 381 points, and Salina Central tied with Abilene for 3rd place with 323 points.  Contestants identified 50 insects and took a written test over integrated pest management practices and insect habitats.
