FFA Members Attend Greenhand Conference

Members of the Minneapolis FFA Chapter attended the North Central District Greenhand Conference held on September 26 at Clay Center. The conference was for all greenhand/first year members and hosted by the North Central District officers. Alyson McCall, District Vice President, and Analena Simmons, District Secretary, conducted workshops during the event. Students from 18 schools from North Central Kansas participated in the event. The members took a test over FFA information. Bringing home medals were Dylan Crosson, Jake Eckert, Kassi Smith, Cody Hamm, Kyler Macy, Cameron Walker, Kylee Gragg, and Spencer Melhus, out of 230 students. Of the 230 contestants, Dylan Crosson was 2nd. Also participating were Garrett Daugherty, Austin Jensen, Jacob Snider, Alex Colosimo, Zac Rathbun, Dustin Thompson, Ty Hamm, Garrett Pounds, Josh Mullen, and Cody Rarig.
Throughout the conference, the members had the opportunity to visit with the district officers. The members were given the chance to realize the opportunities the FFA organization has to offer each individual. In the conference workshops, the district officers challenged the members to develop leadership skills, which would enable them to be a more positive person that their peers would look to for guidance and direction. The members were also encouraged to focus on the future and recognize that the FFA organization provides activities that can develop life skills essential in today’s world.
